The June Edit: Indonesia
This one is from my heart and soul.
Today we’re releasing the Indonesia Collection, a long-awaited and very personal body of work from the place I used to call home. Since starting Marra seven years ago, I’ve dreamed of including the weaving and carving traditions that I grew up among and, I suspect, shaped this very company. It has been a journey — navigating many miles, my babies, the emotions of returning and then a world altered by Covid — to bring it here, to you, today.
I’m grateful to have arrived here.
I was raised on this beautiful and exhilarating archipelago in the Pacific, where life is a mix of chaotic cities, ancient traditions and wild, untouched jungles. With over 7,000 islands, this country is a mash-up of cultures, artistry, dialects and flavors. Each place with its own rhythm but everywhere, everywhere generous hospitality rooted in a perspective of abundance.
I’m excited to share the beauty and artistry of Indonesia’s living heritage. We start with a small, curated selection of pillows made from the batik and Ayotupas techniques. We’ll be releasing more over the coming months and telling stories of the makers and Indonesian culture along the way.
From my heart to your home —
