From its muted indigo base to the warm neutral motif, this Indonesian pillow layers in for effortless styling.  Known for their batik textiles, Indonesia creates beautiful patterns using the ancestral tradition of  “resistance” design.  Plain cotton fabric is handwoven on looms and imprinted with copper stamps, called “cap”, dipped in molten wax.  The wax resists the dye vats, which have been mixed with natural dyes perfected over the years to achieve this muted indigo color.  The blank areas left behind are the pattern on this pillow.  Every step is done by hand and in collaboration of men and women in the village in the ways of their ancestors.  This batik was crafted in Bali, Indonesia.  Due to its handmade nature, each pillow varies slightly.
